The Louisiana Purchase -- April 30, 1803,

Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to say hello. I have been on the road as many of you know with conventions.
I did digress from conventions to attend a conference in Orlando with all of the Area and District Finance Mangers
and finance control support. I participated on a panel with Glen Walker the Chief Financial Officer and Vince DeVito
Manager of SOX. We answered several questions about situations in the field and how they affect Postmasters.
Some dealt with BMEU, SOX compliance and general finance issues. I had a chance to express a Postmasters
concern about these issues. It was informative.
A side bar to this meeting is I had a chance to meet with the hotel about possible availability for the 2011
convention. It was a great property.
I attended the Oklahoma and Arkansas State conventions too. They both had good attendance and it was good to
be with the members again.
Next week I had to adjust my schedule of conventions. When I returned this week I received a request from
Congressman Danny Davis to attend and testify at a hearing on May 8th. I deeply regret that I will not make the
Nevada and South Dakota conventions. This hearing is of importance and one that Bob Levi says that I need to
testify at. In my place at these conventions I have asked the two Vice-Presidents representing these states to pass
a long my messages. They have both agreed. Thanks Dan and David.
I have attached the invite to the hearing for everyone's review. Also, please see Bob's eNapus newsletter with more
info.
Well I will see many of you in the next couple of weeks on the convention trail.
A personal note - today was my daughter Amy's last day in high school. Yes the little girl that sent me away with
things hidden in my suitcase has grown up. We are proud of her.
I know things are still pretty rough in the field. Revenue and volume are down big time. It is very serious.
However, we are still getting a check every two weeks and have our benefits. Many in the private sector have lost
jobs. It is still not permissible to be ballistic in the field. Realistic is what should be happening. I know I had to
call an MPOO today about treatment of a Postmaster and that I hoped they could work it out with having to go
further.
Think good Thoughts!!!!!
Till next time.
Dale
